My name is Althea. I go to Maple Road Elementary School in West Milford, NJ and I am 11 years old. My school recently had a TREP$ Marketplace and the experience was amazing! It gives me an idea on how to sell items when I am older. When the club first started, I had no idea what I was going to sell. I did my business alone. It was hard to think of what to do, because there are so many possibilities out there. With a little help from my parents, I had a great idea. Some bows for the holidays in stores are really expensive, and where do you put the bows?
I came up with Althea’s Clip Art Bow – tique! How I came up with the name? I don’t know. I was just kind of thinking of different names that would match what I was selling.
The tails of the bows, with a set of 6 decorated clips, for two dollars, could hold your Christmas cards! I also sold magnet a set of three magnet clips for two dollars so people could hang their Christmas on their fridge. If they do not have room on their fridge, I had sets of three ornament hook clips, also for two dollars. The bows came in two sizes: small for $2 and large for $3. I felt excited at the Marketplace because it was finally time to make the money!
In total, it cost me twenty three dollars, and after paying it back, I earned around ninety dollars. I had a lot of fun at the TREP$ Marketplace. I even bought things that I would never see in a store. One of my friends invented a game that I bought! Another did a bean bag toss. The possibilities are endless so if you sign up for TREP$, ask yourself if you really want to invest time and money on it! I did and I said yes!
