Ana's Jewelry

February 04, 2019

My name is Anastasia and I am a ten years old fifth grader at Arthur Stanlick School, in Jefferson, NJ.

I decided to make jewelry for the TREP$ Marketplace. It was difficult to decide what I would make for TREP$ but in the end, I chose jewelry because I’ve always loved making and wearing it. I picked resin jewelry because it looked beautiful and it was something I hadn’t tried before but wanted to. It had always brought a smile to my face and I wanted to give that smile to others as well.   For the resin, I bought the kit from Michaels and I mix the two solutions together slowly, put it in the molds ( I ordered the molds online) and you have to wait 24 hours for the resin to cure.

The TREP$ Marketplace was an amazing experience!  The hardest part was selling the jewelry and attracting customers especially at the end. During the marketplace, lots of people sold out. I wasn’t one of them (mainly because I made so much inventory). Naming my business was simple because I was working alone, I decided to name my business Ana’s jewelry. I had so much fun and I learned a lot about business. I hope I get the opportunity to do it again soon!

When the Marketplace was over, I decided to choose a charity to give a portion of my profits to. I decided to donate to a little girl named Nina. Nina was born very sick and has never walked in her entire life! She lives in Macedonia (my parents’ birth county) and needs money to come to America to get surgery so she can finally walk.

I decided to choose this charity because I thought about how it must feel to not be able to walk. It must be horrible! I wanted to make her smile and make a difference in her life!
