Ellie's Scarves

Being part of TREP$ may include worrying that you won’t sell anything, being nervous about the fact that you may not finish your products in time, or that your product will fall apart. But, TREP$ also includes the thrill of starting your own business and the great feeling when someone buys one of your products.

My name is Eleanor, and I did TREP$ at my school. I am ten years old. It was so fun to feel the great experience of having a business. I sold hand-knitted scarves. I sold out in the first 1½ hours!

When I first came home and told my mom that I was going to do hand-knitted scarves, I didn’t know how to knit, I knew how to finger-knit. However, the yarn I bought was too big to finger-knit with! So my mom taught me how to knit with needles.

I made a couple scarves every week. I also had order forms. I got six orders. Anyway, I made a lot of money. Everyone thought that it was amazing that a fifth grader could knit scarves. I donated 10% of my proceeds to the Montclair Animal Shelter because I love animals and I believe all of them should have a home.

I really enjoyed TREP$. I highly recommend it!
