Meet Marson of Too Cool for School! He is a student at Roosevelt School in Lyndhurst, NJ, and we are excited to showcase his business in the TREP$ Student Spotlight. Read more to learn how TREP$ helped Marson realize that starting a business takes discipline:
My name is Marson and for my TREP$ business, I sold handmade bead bracelets and a cool assortment of stickers. I chose this because my Dad wears cool bracelets, and I thought my friends at school would like wearing a bracelet with colors that mean something to them – like our school colors or colors from a favorite sports team.
The most challenging part of my business was making all of the bracelets. Tying the knots strong enough was tricky, and it took a while to get it right. It also took a lot of discipline to spend time each day making them.
At the TREP$ classes, I enjoyed learning everything I needed to know to build a business and market a product. I also loved the excitement of the TREP$ Marketplace and seeing my friends’ response to my product.
In the end, I made a little profit. My Dad and I used some to go get some pizza afterwards. I am saving the rest of the money I earned towards a new PC. TREP$ has made me think that I might want to start my own business in the future, so I can make my own money to buy the things I want.
My advice to kids just starting in TREP$ is to make sure you have enough product and a good sales pitch!
