Meet Jess and Ashley

October 10, 2019

Our names are Jess and Ashley and our business name is J-A-Breezy.  We came up with the name by combining both our first name initials and breezy (what’s needed to blow the spinners and chimes).

It was complicated deciding what product we were going to choose because we wanted to make a product people would enjoy and like.  The first idea was to combine the wind spinners and wind chimes to make something new and different.  We didn’t succeed because the shells were too heaving for spinners, so we made both.  It was hard to color, cut, and tie the chimes to the bottles since my partner broke her arm before we were finished, so we had to ask for help.

At the Marketplace we were a little nervous that we wouldn’t succeed at selling the product.   We also were excited because we succeeded and made some money!

We both gave a third of the profits to St. Jude’s for Kids because we have both lost many family members to cancer.   It made us feel very proud to help kids in need.

In conclusion we would love to do this again, it was fun and got our minds working.  The only thing we would do differently is make more chimes and less spinners.

Note: Jess and Ashley participated in the TREP$ entrepreneurship education program as after-school enrichment,  right at school. This extracurricular activity is a PBL (project based learning) experience that helps kids gain an entrepreneurial mindset, financial literacy, and life skills for the future.
