C & G Jewelry

February 01, 2019

Our names are Gabriella and Christina.  We are fifth graders at Washington Elementary School in Summit, NJ.  We learned a lot from our experience in TREP$, from greeting a customer to time management.

Our TREP$ business this year was named C + G Jewelry.  We made lego earrings and beaded bracelets. We wanted to find a way to bring cool jewelry to our town, and it went well for us and them.

When our class first started working finding our ideas, we had no ideas whatsoever. In the workbook, it had websites to go to like pinterest and facebook.  We went on pinterest, and after looking for a while, we found a girl who was selling lego earrings. We got inspiration to make the bracelets on Michaels. We thought these were two great ideas to make jewelry!

We started making the bracelets, since they took more time to make.  We started by working hard on the bracelets, and when most of the bracelets were done we started on the earrings.  At first it was hard to make the earrings, since we had to try multiple ways before getting the right one that could be made.  Gabriella started working more on the bracelets, and Christina started working more on the earrings.

At the beginning we ordered the wrong size beads.  The beads didn’t have big enough holes. After we ordered different sized beads, and they worked out fine.  With the earrings, we needed to figure out how to get the legos to hang from the hooks. We figured out that using a piece of string made the perfect solution

We were always excited, but at first we had some difficulties.  It at first felt a little bit scary, but then we got the hang of it, and I think we made more sales being more confident in ourselves.  Besides that, our time there was great.
