Meet Alec of Duck Bombs! He recently participated in TREP$ at Katharine D. Malone School in Rockaway Township, NJ, and we are excited to showcase his business in the TREP$ Student Spotlight. Read more to learn how Alec learned perseverance when starting a business:
What is your product and how or why did you choose it?
In my class, ducks are a popular theme, so my partner Patrick and I decided to create bath bombs that contain a little surprise duck inside.
What new skills did you learn in TREP$?
Throughout my time in TREP$, I learned how to create, promote, and sell our product.
What part of your business was the most challenging and why?
The most challenging part of the business was perfecting the recipe for Duck Bombs. We had to test several different recipes before finding one that worked.
What is the biggest lesson you learned in starting your business?
I learned the importance of perseverance.
Did you make a profit? If so, what do you plan on doing with it?
Yes, we made a profit of $144. I saved some of the money for a future business and used the rest to buy books at school.
What did you enjoy most about TREP$?
I enjoyed working with my partner and creating the product. At the TREP$ Marketplace, we sold out 30 minutes before the event ended, which was an exciting experience. The event was also fun because everyone supported each other by buying and using each other’s products.
